What seed are you sowing? - Monday, 20 November

“Stop being deceived; God is not to be ridiculed. A person harvests whatever he plants”
Galatians 6:7 ISV

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
Galatians 6:7 KJV

Many people don’t like what they’re harvesting. They’re hoping for different results but they’re not getting them because they aren’t changing the seed that they’re sowing. If you don’t like your harvest change the seed that you’re sowing! You cannot plant corn and expect to harvest wheat. You cannot sow death and expect to reap life. I love how this verse starts off, “do not be deceived…” It’s deception to think that you won’t reap what you’re sowing.

“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
Romans 8:6 KJV

Carnal mindedness results in death. Spiritual mindedness results in life and peace. If you want to reap a harvest of life and peace then you need to be thinking and meditating on the things of the spirit (this includes the promises of God).

To be carnally minded means to be dominated by carnality or the physical – what you see and feel. There is a higher reality than what we see and feel: the spiritual realm. God is a spirit (John 4:24) and He spoke the world (what we see and feel) into existence (Genesis 1:3). The spiritual realm precedes our physical realm and the spiritual created the physical.

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”
John 6:63 NKJV

There is no profit to being carnally-minded or fleshly – it only results in death and all that death includes (sickness, lack, depression etc.). Jesus said that the words He speaks to us are spirit and life. To be spiritually-minded means to be Word-of-God-minded. This means that you’re thinking about God’s Word and His promises, and this is the seed for a harvest of life and peace. Life and peace are not accidental – no harvest comes by chance – if you want to experience the life and peace of God, then you need to sow seeds for that harvest.

“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.”
Isaiah 26:3 NKJV

Peace is a natural by-product of keeping your mind stayed (or fixed) on God. When we focus on God and trust in Him it doesn’t matter what happens around us, we will experience peace.

“…I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse; therefore, you shall choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants”
Deuteronomy 30:19 AMP

Do you want to experience life and peace, or death? It’s not up to God – it’s your choice! God is not in control of your harvest – you are! Choose life by being Word-of-God-minded. Whenever you have an opportunity to think about the negative things going on in this life, or a bad report concerning your finances or health, choose not to. Get into God’s Word and dig out the promises concerning your situation, then start being spiritually-minded by meditating on the Word. This will result in a great harvest!
