The heavenly transfer to your account. - Wednesday, 11 April

“Our faith in Jesus transfers God’s righteousness to us and he now declares us flawless in his eyes. This means we can now enjoy true and lasting peace with God, all because of what our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One, has done for us.”
Romans 5:1 The Passion Translation (TPT)

Our enemy has been propagating the lie that we become righteous (right with God) through what we do or don’t do. Sadly, many believers have come to believe this lie to some degree and that has caused them to walk in bondage and suffer, but knowing the truth will make you free! And the truth is that you could never be right with God by what you do because your efforts (even with the best intentions) could never be sufficient compared to God’s righteous standards. Righteousness is not about doing right but about being right. It’s not about performance but about identity. Righteousness is a gift to be received not a goal to be achieved.

Our faith in Jesus transfers God’s righteousness to us. It’s as if you were born with a negative bank balance and your debt was so great that you would never be able to pay it back let alone get your balance into a positive. Someone generously transfers their money (which you did not earn nor deserve) into your account, and it’s enough to cover the debt and put you in a positive so great that you never have to worry about lack again. When we simply place our faith in Jesus and what He has done for us, a heavenly transfer occurs and God’s righteousness (which we didn’t earn nor deserve) is credited to our account, completely paying off the debt of sin we owed and placing us in permanent perfect right standing with God. Once again, we didn’t do anything to get there – we didn’t live holy or sacrifice or try to please God – we simply believed in Jesus and His finished work for us, and this heavenly transfer took place. We didn’t work to earn the righteousness we now have; it was a gift we received that someone else paid for.

Now that we have been credited with God’s perfect righteousness, He Himself declares us as flawless (perfect) in His eyes. He doesn’t see us as sinners trying to get right with Him, He sees us as saints who are perfectly right with Him – not because we tried really hard to do what is right and avoid what is wrong, but simply because we placed our faith in Jesus and what He did for us. What amazing grace!
