🌟 Heavenly Excitement

We tend to be so familiar with the Christmas story that it doesn’t have an impact on us that it should. Open your heart and imagine this:

“10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
Luke 2:10-14 NKJV

It wasn’t enough for one angel to tell the shepherds the good news of Jesus’ birth: suddenly a multitude of angels joined in with the angel to declare this good news. I remember how I wanted to tell everyone when my sons were born. There was just so much excitement in me that I couldn’t keep the good news to myself. Imagine how God must have felt! Imagine how His angels must have felt knowing God’s plan for Jesus! Imagine the excitement!

We generally picture this scene with a few angels being very solemn and serious. But a multitude for Jesus when He was preaching was anywhere from 5,000 to 20,000 people. I think it is safe to assume that there were at least that many angels that joined the one angel to sing praises to God after the announcement of Jesus’ birth. I imagine the angels were so excited that they suddenly burst forth in praising God, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

They knew that this really was good news. They knew that this news would change everything. Jesus birth was something worth celebrating – and it still is. Imagine how the shepherds must have felt! One angel was busy telling them about Jesus’ birth and then suddenly a whole multitude of angels burst onto the scene and start singing the good news! I think the shepherds must have gotten the message loud and clear. I am sure that they were awestruck. This was not just a story. This was real. It changed the world, the course of history, and the lives of millions of people. Let this story impact your heart and mind this Christmas season!
