Fully Redeemed & Completely Forgiven!
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace”
Ephesians 1:7 English Standard Version (ESV)
“Since we are now joined to Christ, we have been given the treasures of redemption by his blood—the total cancellation of our sins—all because of the cascading riches of his grace.”
Ephesians 1:7 The Passion Translation (TPT)
As soon as we say “yes” to Jesus and are united with Him we have obtained redemption and complete forgiveness of our sins. As Christians, we are not trying to obtain redemption because we are fully redeemed, and we are not trying to obtain forgiveness because we have already received complete forgiveness for all our sins – past, present and even future sins!
“Redemption” basically means “a releasing effected by payment of ransom” (Thayer’s). The fall of Adam caused all men to be held captive by the devil, like a hostage situation. Through Christ’s blood (which gave us forgiveness of sins) we have been bought back! Legally, the enemy has no right to you because you belong to God. As 1 Corinthians 6:20 says, you were bought with a price.
“One man’s disobedience opened the door for all humanity to become sinners. So also one man’s obedience opened the door for many to be made perfectly right with God and acceptable to him.”
Romans 5:19 The Passion Translation (TPT)
Through Adam’s disobedience (sin) all of mankind automatically became sinners. We don’t have to do anything to become sinners, we are simply born sinners. Likewise, through One Man’s obedience (Jesus’) all of mankind can be made perfectly right with God and acceptable to Him. God has made The Way for us to be made right with Him open and clear. There should be no confusion concerning how to be right with and accepted by God. Through faith in Christ, we are made perfectly right with God (Romans 5:1; 2 Corinthians 5:21). We are fully redeemed and completely forgiven!
“Our message is that God was making all human beings his friends through Christ. God did not keep an account of their sins, and he has given us the message which tells how he makes them his friends.”
2 Corinthians 5:19 Good News Translation (GNT)
“We are Christ’s ambassadors. God is using us to speak to you: we beg you, as though Christ himself were here pleading with you, receive the love he offers you—be reconciled to God.”
2 Corinthians 5:19 Living Bible (TLB)
Through faith in Jesus and His finished redemptive work, we have been reconciled unto – made friends with – God. God isn’t mad, angry or upset with anyone. He has dealt with the sin barrier that stood between Him and all mankind. The cross effectively wiped out every hindrance that existed between us and God. God has made The Way to friendship with Him both clear and open. As His ambassadors, our message to the world is simple: receive the love that God offers you and be reconciled to God. The gift of reconciliation has been bought and paid for, it has the unbeliever’s name on it and it’s waiting for the unbeliever to claim it. The gift is received when the unbeliever becomes a believer and, at that moment, they enter into a union with Jesus and obtain total redemption and complete forgiveness. The believer is fully redeemed, completely forgiven and totally accepted by God! Now, that’s good news!
When we place our faith in the finished redemptive work of Jesus we are fully accepted by God. We never have to do anything to try and get into God’s favour, because now we live in it. We never have to strive to live right to obtain acceptance or blessing from God because we live in constant blessing and favour, all because of what Jesus has done for us.
