Reject rejection!

Reject rejection!

“3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.”
Ephesians 1:3-6 New King James Version (NKJV)

All the kids are standing waiting to be chosen by one of the team captains. The captains each get a chance to pick one person from the group and are choosing as strategically as possible. Have you been in this kind of scenario? The last few people to be picked are the ones no one really wants to choose. Or maybe you didn’t make the cut to receive an invitation to a party? No one really likes rejection – it hurts! It can cause us to become introspective, self-critical and self-condemning. Did you know that the Creator of the universe, your loving heavenly Father, has chosen you? It doesn’t matter who rejects you because God chooses you!

God doesn’t merely tolerate or put up with you – He loves you. He wants you. He chose you to be His child, and He accepts you, fully. You are not an orphan; you are a son or daughter of the most high God. Through Jesus, you have been adopted as a child of the King! If God accepts you and chose you, then you shouldn’t care who does not.

We have all felt rejection at some point in our lives. Rejection hurts and if you don’t deal with it properly it will hurt for a long time. Many people suffer from rejection for decades because they don’t deal with it. Rejection can be defined as exclusion, brush-off, a cold shoulder, or denial. Have you ever felt excluded or brushed-off because you weren’t cool enough? Or maybe you were rejected because you look different or your convictions are not according to society’s standards? Don’t allow the opinions of people who do not matter, to influence your heart and life. Sometimes we allow insignificant people to carry far too much authority over our hearts and actions. If someone’s opinion of you does not match up with God’s opinion of you, you shouldn’t take that person too seriously.

Sometimes we bury the pain of rejection or we just don’t deal with it and so it marks us deep within our hearts. This causes us to live from a place of pain where our wounded subconscious causes us to react in certain ways or make certain decisions that are not necessarily in line with what we say we believe.  Unresolved rejection can lead us to rebel or to seek acceptance and approval in ways that we shouldn’t. As you focus on God’s opinion of you and start valuing it above the opinions of others it will cause you to let go of the rejection of others – this is how you reject rejection! God loves you, He chose you and He accepts you!

“that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love”
Ephesians 1:4 New King James Version (NKJV)

God calls you a saint which means that you are a “holy one”. God knows that you are not perfect. He knows that you make mistakes, but He still sees you as holy not because of your goodness but because by His goodness He has made you holy (2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 10:10). Since you are holy, you are also without blame! Yes, you are completely blameless because you are in Christ! You are 100% innocent.

“So now the case is closed. There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One.”
Romans 8:1 The Passion Translation (TPT)

There is no condemnation against you because Jesus was condemned on your behalf. He took your punishment and now you are completely free from all blame and all shame. There is not one bit of condemning evidence against you that can stand because you have been declared completely innocent. You are a saint and now there is nothing that you can be blamed for.

“So, what does all this mean? If God has determined to stand with us, tell me, who then could ever stand against us?”
Romans 8:31 The Passion Translation (TPT)

What an awesome truth and key to overcoming rejection of all kinds! It doesn’t matter who rejected you or how it happened, the answer is the acceptance of God! If the Creator of the universe – your Father – accepts and loves you, who gives a rip if someone doesn’t like you. There will always be someone who doesn’t like you, but God always accepts you because you are now in Christ! If you the opinions of others and compare it to God’s opinion of you, the opinion of others will always look extremely pathetic.

When you start to comprehend how accepted you are in Christ, it will be easy to let go of the rejection of men. You will only start to walk in freedom and live in victory when you aren’t carrying rejection. I encourage you to pray and ask God to open your understanding that you may fully know and experience His love and acceptance. Choose to reject rejection! Let go of any hurt and rejection and embrace the full acceptance that is yours in Jesus Christ!

“To the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.”
Ephesians 1:6 New King James Version (NKJV)

The phrase “accepted in the beloved” is saying that we are highly favoured and gladly received by God. God doesn’t merely tolerate you – He’s crazy about you! “Beloved” refers to Jesus and echoes the truth that the truth of our position “in Him”.

I encourage you to say it out loud: I AM A CHILD OF GOD. I AM CHOSEN AND FULLY ACCEPTED. I AM HOLY AND WITHOUT BLAME. GOD DOESN’T JUST TOLERATE ME, HE LOVES AND LIKES ME.
