The power to encourage yourself in the Lord! 🔥

The power to encourage yourself in the Lord! 🔥

“I have told you these things so that you can have peace in me. In this world you will have troubles. But be brave! I have defeated the world!”
John 16:33 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)

I know you probably don’t want to hear this, but in this life, there are going to be many opportunities to be discouraged. Jesus said we would have trouble but even in the trouble, we can be brave, courageous and of good cheer if we focus on Jesus who has overcome the world! You are in Christ; therefore, His victory is your victory! These are the kind of things that you need to encourage yourself with when times are tough.

“And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.”
John 14:16 King James Version (KJV)

Jesus set us up so that we’d be able to encourage ourselves in Him and succeed in difficult times. The Holy Spirit was sent to be our Comforter, or Helper (as another translation puts it). We can set ourselves up to succeed in difficult times by receiving the Holy Spirit and allowing His ministry of comfort (encouragement) and help in our lives. Praying in the Holy Spirit builds you up in faith (Jude 20), and it edifies and encourages you (1 Corinthians 14:4). It unleashes the power of God in your life and will enable you to effectively encourage yourself in the Lord.

You won’t be able to encourage yourself in the Lord successfully and over a prolonged period of time without the power of the Holy Spirit in your life. Sadly, there are many believers who have received the Holy Spirit and do not experience His power in their lives. This is because they are not stirring the Spirit up in them (2 Timothy 1:6) and are waiting for the Holy Spirit to do something. You are not waiting on the Holy Spirit to stir up and encourage you; the Holy Spirit is waiting on you to stir yourself up by praying in the Spirit.

You need the power of the Holy Spirit in your life, and you need to stir it up and let it flow!
