? Focus ?

I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead. 14 I run straight for the divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory-prize through the anointing of Jesus.
Philippians 3:13-14 The Passion Translation (TPT)

The apostle Paul was truly successful and yet he spent a lot of time in prison for his faith in Jesus Christ. Remember that God doesn’t define success as we do; it’s not about fame and fortune but rather about fulfilling your God-given assignment here on earth. There were times when Paul had every need met and he had an abundance but there were also times where he didn’t have much in terms of wealth and he knew what it was like to be hungry (Philippians 4:12-13). And yet, Paul was successful because of his surrender to Jesus and focus on his heavenly assignment, and as a result, the fruitfulness and impact of his ministry are still felt today, more than 2000 years later.

I do have one compelling focus – focus is a key element for success and fruitfulness. Your priorities are revealed through your focus and having the wrong focus or priorities will severely limit you and hold you back from success and fruitfulness. This is the problem for so many people today – we try to do everything well when you can’t. Jack of all trades but master of none! You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you, but that doesn’t mean that you should do all things. Focus. Paul had one major compelling focus, not two or three or nine. Within his one compelling focus, I am sure that he had a couple of different things to do, but they were all geared towards one compelling focus. As the saying goes the way to destroy a man with a vision is to give him two.

The strength of a laser is in its focus but as soon as the focused light is diffused, it loses its strength and power. Where is your focus in life? The answer to this question is revealed in how you spend your time and money. Are you living with one compelling focus, or are you just going with the flow?
