See yourself correctly - Wednesday, 15 November
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
James 4:7 (KJV)

Resist means to actively fight against. Resisting the devil is something active, not passive. The devil loves passivity because it will only allow his attacks to succeed. The Word guarantees that if you resist the devil, he will flee from you. Flee is also an active word which has nothing passive about it. When you actively fight against the devil, he will run as fast as he can away from you. I believe that he even runs in terror and fear because of who you are in Christ (1 John 4:4)!

When you submit your view of yourself to God and start to see yourself as He sees you, then you’re starting to see your new identity – who you are in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).When you see yourself as God sees you, you will rise up to deal with the devil swiftly. Knowing who you are in Christ doesn’t lead to passivity. It will lead you to rise up and actively take hold of what is rightfully yours in Christ.

Whatever you are not resisting, you are in actual fact embracing and submitting to. If the enemy is coming to steal from you, and bring death and destruction in your life (John 10:10) then you must actively fight against him to stop the attack. His plan is to choke the abundant life right out of you and prevent you from enjoying the life that God has freely provided for you but don’t let him.

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
Luke 10:19 KJV

You have no need to fear the enemy or be overwhelmed by any of his attacks. You are much bigger than him, and you have much more authority than he does. You have more authority over the devil himself than he has over an ant. Jesus has given us power (authority) over all the power (ability) of the enemy. There is not a battle against the devil that you will ever face that you are not well equipped to win. God has set us up to always whip the devil – but the problem is that we just don’t know it. We believe the lie that he is bigger than us when the truth is that the greater One lives in us (1 John 4:4)!

Much love
