Release the blessing and prosper - Friday, 22 September

“But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is He that gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which he swore unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”
Deuteronomy 8:18 KJV

This scripture confirms for us that the purpose of the wealth is to “establish His covenant.” This is talking about using wealth to reach people with the gospel. But God doesn’t want you to just give everything you have away. Money is also a tool for you to look after yourself and be a blessing to your family (1 Timothy 5:8).

“He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.”
2 Corinthians 9:10 ESV

If you’re someone who sows (gives), God will make sure that you have enough to continue giving (“He supplies seed to the sower”). But this verse shows us that He also provides “bread for food”. God is our provider, and He wants us to have our needs met.

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.”
2 Corinthians 8:9 ESV

Through Jesus’ sacrifice we are prospered; not through our own works. Jesus’ payment was extravagant and provided more than enough for any need you could ever have. You may see a need in your life, but that need has already been lavishly provided for through Jesus. In Him, you are blessed with all spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3) and through knowing Him you have everything you could ever need for life (practical needs) and godly living (2 Peter 1:3).

In Deuteronomy 8:18 we see that God doesn’t give us money directly but rather He gives us the power (or ability) to get wealth. Many people would rather stay at home and not work, and have God supernaturally provide for their needs. But God has put gifts, talents, creative ideas and skills in you (ability) so that you can obtain wealth through using what He has put inside of you. Laziness is not godliness. God says that He “blesses everything we put our hands to” (Deuteronomy 28:8). He does not bless laziness or inactivity. If you don’t put your hands to something, you limit God and the blessing cannot flow. To release God’s ability and blessing in your life, put your hands to something in faith and you’ll see the blessing flow and prosperity come.

Many people fall into a trap here thinking that “it’s all up to me… I need to make myself prosper…” but the Scriptures are clear: God is the source of our provision and prosperity. “Putting your hands” to something doesn’t make you prosper it’s how you release the blessing of God in you to produce prosperity. It’s God’s way of enabling prosperity to flow in your life.

Much love,

Shayne
