100% right with God
We all want to reign in life. That’s God’s will for us. Romans 5:17, says, for if by one man’s offence, death reigned by one much more, they which receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one Jesus Christ.
So, because of Adam’s offence or sin, death reigned along with suffering, sickness, lack and defeat. All of that came in because of Adam and because of his transgression, but much more can we reign in life if we receive the abundance of grace, if we receive the gift of righteousness and if we have a relationship with Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17).
Righteousness is right standing with God. It’s your rightness before God. Another way to interpret it or, or define it is being able to stand in the presence of God without any feeling of inferiority. When God looks at you he sees someone who is innocent. He sees someone who is perfect and cannot be condemned because they are united with him. That’s what righteousness means. Sadly, a lot of Christians wrongly believed that righteousness is something that they have to earn. It’s something that they work at. Something which they have to build up. The more good you do, the more righteous you become. And that’s just completely wrong. Your righteousness is something that is given to you as a gift. The moment that you receive Christ, you experienced the power of righteousness in your life and the essence of your identity radically changed. But you’ll never see the fruit of it until you start to realize it and believe it. Every Christian regardless of their behaviour is 100% right with God 100% of the time even when they sin.
You might have emotions which are not in line with God’s heart and God’s word, but in your spirit, you are 100% right with God, 100% of the time. You are flawless in His eyes! Yes, our actions and our emotions are important and they have consequences but because of Jesus, we have been declared innocent of all sin, past, present, and future. Now God sees you as holy and righteous and blameless in his sight. I know that people freak out when you say things like that but it’s the gospel truth. That’s what the word says.
Hebrews 10:10 says, the passion says, by God’s will, we have been purified and made holy once and for all through the sacrifice of the body of the, of Jesus, the Messiah.
You have been made holy once and for all time. We’re not made holy through our actions but through what Jesus did for us! Now you either have holy actions or you have unholy actions, but whether your actions or holy or not isn’t the question. If you’re a Christian, you are holy. And that holiness should lead to holy actions, but it will only lead to holy actions as you realize how holy you are because you’re in Christ and because you’re a new creation. As Proverbs 23:7 says, as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.
The more you start to believe that you are righteous, that you are 100% right before God – completely innocent and flawless, that you are holy, that you are blameless – the more you start to believe those things in your heart, the more you’re going to start to live it out.
Hebrews 10:10 says that we are sanctified, or made holy, through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all.
That is saying that once and for all time, we’ve been made holy through what Jesus has done for us, not through what we do for him. Okay? You have to know that your sin, your past sins, have been completely paid in full. You have to know that your present sins have been completely paid in full. You need to know that God’s grace hasn’t ignored the sins that you want to commit tomorrow or you’re going to commit the next day, whether it’s wilful or whether it’s accidental, it has been paid for in full and God is not ever going to hold it sin against you! That’s good news!
Yes, sin has an effect in your life and there are consequences to our actions, but there are no spiritual consequences for believers because Jesus has paid for your sin in full. What I mean by that is that God will not ever reject you for any sin that you commit.
If you want to experience the payment for your sins, if you want to experience the freedom from sin, then you need to receive it by faith. The truth of the matter is that your account of debt has been cleared and you had been declared completely free, completely innocent. Romans 5:1 The Passion Translation says, our faith in Jesus transfers God’s righteousness to us and he now declares us flawless in his eyes.
So, let’s just pause there and look at that. I mean, it’s saying that because of faith in Jesus, we have God’s righteousness transferred to us. So our righteousness as believers isn’t because we’ve done right, it’s because we’ve put faith in Jesus and now God has given us his righteousness. And because of that, God declares us now flawless or perfect in his eyes. And because of that, the scripture goes on and says, we can now enjoy true, lasting peace with God all because of what Jesus, our Lord, the anointed One, has done for us. Because of our righteousness in Christ, we can now enjoy peace with God and a perfect relationship with Him. This is what enables us to live a life of victory. Your relationship with God isn’t dependent on how much you fast and pray and read your Bible. Your reading your Bible and praying certainly does good but those things help you discover more about God and His love. Good works and holy living don’t get you deeper access into God’s presence, you have access, full access, to a healthy relationship with God because of faith in what Jesus has done for you and as soon as you have faith in what he’s done for you, that he’s made you right with God, 100% right with God 100% of the time. That also means that you could never be in God’s bad books. You’re always in his good books. That means that you can boldly come to the throne of grace at any point in time, in your life, at your time of need, and you can receive mercy. You can receive help. You can receive grace! This is the awesome, good news of the Gospel! This is what enables us to live a life of victory and reign in life.
